What OctoLedger does
A focused set of tools for households that want to understand their money without giving up control of it.
Statement import
Upload the statements your bank already gives you. OctoLedger handles CSV, OFX, QFX and native-text PDF, checks every upload for malware before it is read, and binds each file to the account it belongs to.
Imports are atomic and validated after the fact: a statement either arrives completely and consistently, or it does not arrive at all. Duplicate files are recognised by content so re-uploading the same statement cannot double-count your money.
Transaction review
Every imported transaction is available for review with its source row, date, description and amount. Classification suggestions are shown with their evidence, and you can accept or override them — the decision is recorded either way.
Subscriptions and recurring charges
Recurring payments are detected from your own transaction history and presented for review. You can confirm, ignore or stop tracking a subscription, so the list reflects your real commitments rather than a guess.
A monthly trust summary
Each month OctoLedger summarises what it read, what it matched and what still needs attention. If something could not be reconciled, it says so plainly instead of presenting a confident number that is quietly wrong.
Household roles
Invite members to your workspace and give each one a role. Administrators can manage accounts and imports; members can work within them. Ownership and beneficiary attribution are separate from access, so you can record who an account belongs to without widening who can see it.
An audit trail you can read
Significant actions are written to an append-only audit log: who did what, to which object, when, and with what outcome. Entries cannot be edited or deleted through the application.
