Privacy notice
This notice explains what personal data OctoLedger handles and why. It is a draft prepared for review by the operator's legal adviser; bracketed items must be completed before publication.

What we collect
- Account and authentication data: your name, email address and organisation membership, provided through our authentication provider when you sign in.
- Financial data you choose to upload: statement files you import, and the transactions derived from them.
- Attribution data you enter: account nicknames, institution names, and which household member an account belongs to or benefits.
- Technical data: minimal operational logs and audit records needed to run the service securely and to investigate problems.
Why we process it
- To provide the service you asked for — importing, reviewing and summarising your financial records (performance of a contract).
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and maintain an audit trail (legitimate interests, and legal obligations where they apply).
- To respond to your enquiries and privacy requests (legitimate interests).
Who we share it with
We share data only with service providers needed to operate the product — for example hosting, authentication, managed encryption keys and email delivery — under contracts that limit their use of it. [LIST OF PROCESSORS AND LOCATIONS].

Where it is stored and for how long
